Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 Tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into five portions
4 ounces chocolate chips
3/4 cup milk
Direction:
Combine flour, baking powder, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a food processor. Add butter and chocolate chips and process until crumbly. Begin processing and add milk until mixture is crumbly but will hold together when pinched with fingers. Turn moistened dough out onto counter, form into a ball, and flatten into a circle approximately one inch thick.
Using a 2-inch round cutter, make 12 to 15 shortcakes. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 450-degree oven for 13 minutes. When slightly cooled, place on plate and cover with plastic wrap to keep them moist.
Strawberry Sauce: Pure 2 quarts strawberries in a food processor. Remove from processor, pour into bowl, and add 2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup orange juice. Add 2 quarts sliced berries to the pureed mixture.
Whipped Cream: Whip 2 cups heavy cream in bowl of electric mixer on high speed. When the mixture begins to thicken, add 1/2 cup confectioners sugar and teaspoons vanilla extract.
Assembly of Individual Shortcakes:
Place a Tablespoon of sauce in the bottom of a dish. Place the bottom half of the shortcake on the sauce. Continue on with 2 Tablespoons sauce, 1 Tablespoon whipped cream, the top half of the shortcake, 2 more Tablespoons sauce, and top with 1 Tablespoon whipped cream. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

manners around your parents..
assalaamu alkium sisters ,
it is obedience to Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents” [al-‘Ankaboot 29:8]
1. You should not cause them any harm even if they commit any excesses.
2. Respect and honour them in your speech and dealings with them.
3. Obey them in permissible acts.
4. If they are in need of money, assist them even if they are kafirs.
5. The following rights are due to parents after their death:
(a) Continue making duas of forgiveness and mercy for them. Continue sending rewards to them in the form of optional acts of worship and charity on their behalf.
(b) Meet their friends and relatives in a friendly way and also assist them wherever possible.
c) If you have the finances, fulfil their unpaid debts and the permissible bequests that they have made.
(d) When they pass away, abstain from crying and wailing aloud or else their souls will be troubled.
6. According to the Shariah, the rights of the paternal and maternal grandparents are similar to those of the parents and they should be regarded as such.
7.obeying and honouring one’s parents is a means of entering Paradise
8.respecting and obeying them is a way of showing gratitude to them because they are the ones who brought you into this world. You should also show gratitude towards them for bringing you up and taking care of you when you were young. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents” [Luqmaan 31:14]

Summer 2010 :)
Cardigans - Buy them oversized and you tick 3 boxes: modesty, aeration and the oversized look is still very on trend. You can pretty much find these in all highstreet shops like Primark, H&M and Dorothy Perkins.
Denim jackets and blazers - Denim jackets have always been a summer classic and blazers look great with lots of different styles. Blazers look particulary nice with oversized tees, here's a look to give to an idea:
colors - i love summer colors such as gold
thong sandals- i love them . usually sister don't wear there feet out but you can still wear thong sandals with pair of thin black socks and it still would look cutee.
GYSPE SKIRTS- so in i just love the and flawness you get out these wonderful skirts i will be wearing a alot of these this summer : )
DONT
- ..wear more than one scarf or choose think scarves and avoid an undercap where possible
- ..pin your hijab unnecessarily, let it be a bit loose (but still covered, obviously..) so air can get to your neck
- ..wear skinny jeans: they are hot and look weird with a headscarf anyway
Accessorize, glamorize, hijab..ize
love jewelry and accessories and if you ask me, hijabis can't be beaten at accessorising simply because a scarf is, in fashion, an accessory and so are hijab pins and under caps etc. Obviously the main reason isn't to accessorise but that's no reason not to use the idea anyway :D Here are some of my fave ways to accessorise, hijab style and not a plain black hijab in site:
Layering
I love layering clothes, so why should a hijab be any different?
Beads
..are a girls best friend. Especially if they are on a non-tacky looking (i.e. not shiny) long necklace that can
that can poke out from under your hijab
Earrings
OK, maybe not an everyday thing but they look nice on occasion. still very stylish
Shades..oh so obvious!
Under caps
My favorite section! Under caps can completely transform the look of a hijab, they are like the hijab equivalent to cardigans..well in my mind anyway :):
well i hope i have help some of you out for the summer trends please leave a comment about waht you think about the outfits i made above and any more summer tips please tell me i would love to hear some of them.

what does islam mean to you ?
Assalaamu-alaikum,
Islam is, to me, a solution to all my problems and a solution to all of your problems. Whatever the nature of the problems that you face Islam has a solution. This is because Islam is more than just spiritual, it is practical. Islam is a complete system of life. Islam has a financial system, an education system, a government system and a legal system. And then again it has a social system and it also covers the spiritual aspects of your life. This system of Islam is the best possible system for us since it has been designed by Allah, our Creator, and since He created us He knows best what is good for us and what is bad for us and what is the ideal system for us to live our lives under. It is only this system of Islam that can comprehensively solve the problems of the world e.g. famine, homelessness, crime, oppression and brutality.
Life is short, as you know, so are some people. But seriously, I must not digress. We must think ISLAM, breathe ISLAM, act ISLAM and live ISLAM. ALLAH AKBAR. May your deen be with you at all times and may you think of your death 20 times a day - so that you stop any bad actions and remember that every second you live is a second closer to ALLAH (subhanahu wa' ta'ala)
Islam is submission to Allah. This submission begins in the Name of Allah, The compasionate, the merciful. Compassion which is a condition of the heart is inseperable from mercy which is anact of compassion. The First verse that follows will be the praise and thanks to Allah, which willbe grasped throughout the message of the Quran, in every condition. Islam means Submission to God, Islam means peace, Islam means tolerance islam means alot of things.
i want all my readers to think about what islam means to you and come back and leave a comment telling me what does islam mean to you i would love to hear from you.
with much love
khadijah.

Are you trustworthy and honest ?
When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour (the Day of Judgment). These are the words of Prophet Muhammad. They paint a picture of the time leading up to the Day of Judgement, when righteous people will be sorrowful due to the lack of honesty around them. In the 21st century, we live in a world where honesty is valued and yet shunned at the same time. We expect people to be honest in their dealings with us yet we watch and applaud television shows and movies that promote and encourage lying and deceitfulness.
When we refuse invitations and pretend we are busy, this is lying. We admonish our children for lying, yet the reality is we have been their teachers. Whether we tell lies, or whether we allow our children to live in a world surrounded by deceit, the lesson is learned and the honesty begins to disappear from the hearts of the next generation.
Honesty incorporates the concepts of truthfulness and reliability and it resides in all human thought, words, actions and relationships. It is more than just accuracy; it is more than just truthfulness, it denotes integrity or moral soundness. Islam commands truthfulness and forbids lying. God commands that a Muslim be honest
“O you who believe! Fear God, and be with those who are true (in word and deeds).” (Quran 9:119)
“Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. In addition, a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to wickedness and evil-doing, and wickedness leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before God, as a liar”
Allah forbids all unclean and corrupt means of making money, such as, dishonest trading, gambling, and bribery. And the Holy Quran has explained and described such practices in many of its verses.
A Muslim seeking to please God and follow the path of righteousness should be aware of the dangers of deceit and dishonesty. However, equally he should know that God is all Merciful and all Loving, willing to forgive even the gravest sins for those who strive for His sake. Honesty is very important in the life of a believer.
Another dimension of honesty is trustworthiness, or in Arabic, amanah.Trust, and being worthy of another’s trust, is inherent in being one who is submitted to the will of Allah. When Allah appointed Adam (the father of mankind) as successor on earth, it was a trust incumbent upon all of mankind. When allah created us as individuals for worshipping Him, it became a trust incumbent upon us to nourish ourselves and our families in a way that enables worship.
In Islam, every believer is a brother or sister to the other; we are one body, one nation. The right hand must be able to trust the left hand. The commands and rules from God are designed for our benefit and Islam holds people’s rights in high esteem. The systematic arrangement of guidelines and regulations is intended to uphold the rights Islam gives to the believers and to minimise vice and corruption. Islam strongly condemns the violation of God-given rights. When God commands us to keep the trust, to be trustworthy, it is not a matter to be taken lightly.
The Muslim nation should be one unit, one nation. All members of this brotherhood should be able to stand before God knowing that he is safe and secure in the company of one who is trustworthy. From the lowliest peasant to the mightiest king all are equal, the only thing that makes one member of the unit better than the other is his piety or righteousness. Amongst the many qualities that blend together to make righteousness, is trustworthiness and honesty.
